Chip and Joanna Gaines

A writer who attacked Chip and Joanna Gaines this fall has made peace with the couple he claimed didn’t put their family first.

Daryl Austin attacked the “Fixer Upper” stars regarding their parenting in a USA Today column. Austin said the Gaineses couldn’t have always put their children first while building their empire. He rightfully received blowback from fans of Chip and Joanna Gaines. Chip also fired right back at him on Twitter.

Austin tried to smooth things over with a column on Fox News. “I regret writing it.” He wrote, “I didn’t write it to be hurtful, out of jealousy, or to cause controversy. I wrote it for one simple reason: because I believed every word I wrote to be true.”

Still regretting the words in his original column, Austin reached out to the “Fixer Upper” couple after the birth of their fifth child last week. A representative for the couple responded to the writer by saying the Gaineses accepted his apology.

“I already respected them a lot, despite some concerns I addressed in that article, but now I respect them even more,” Austin said after getting a response.

Chip and Joanna Gaines aren’t the types of people who let opinions of them weigh them down. This Christian couple have their lives centered around God and their family, so it’s not shocking that they accepted this critic’s apology so quickly. Besides, with the arrival of their son Crew, they have little time for petty arguments and division with people they don’t even know.

The Gaines family has quickly adjusted to their latest addition. Joanna’s recent pictures on Instagram of Crew are evidence that family always comes first for this couple. The proud mom reports that Crew is settling in well.

Family has always come first for Chip and Joanna Gaines and it always will.
