Many professional athletes are focused on their fame and fortune but Tim Tebow is not your average athlete. As a devout Christian, his main focus is on God rather than sports. He demonstrates this constantly, but recent comments make you think even more highly of this Christian athlete.
The Heisman Trophy winner is currently playing for the Double-A Binghamton Rumble Ponies and still prominently displays his faith as much as he did in the NFL. Recently, many people saw a giant shadow of a cross appearing on the field in front of him during spring training. The perfect sign of his faith!
In an interview, Tebow once again demonstrated that he has his priorities straight. His focus is on Christ rather than sports. This is not something you hear often from professional athletes.
“My main purpose is not about football or baseball, or anything like that. It’s about helping others. It’s about finding the people who need hope. That’s my greater purpose,” Tebow said.
“If I’m not remembered for baseball, that’s OK,” Tebow continued. “If I’m not remembered for football, that’s OK, too. Actually, it’s fine if I’m not remembered at all. What I want is to serve God by helping people who are less fortunate. That’s what’s important, not playing a sport.”
There are lots of signs that God is with Tim Tebow. His kind heart has been rewarded by hitting a home run right after taking a moment of his time in the on-deck circle to acknowledge a boy with autism. His greatest reward, though, is leading others to Christ with his public devotion and his good works towards others. He is an amazing example of a Christian!
Tebow said about helping others, “That’s my calling. I believe I’m doing what God wants me to do — to serve those who may not have a lot of people who are serving them.”
“Our lives should be about bringing faith, hope, and love to those needing a brighter day in their darkest hour of need,” the baseball player continued.
This message is resonating with many people. Fans flock to see this Tebow play. He is an inspiration in how he lives his life on and off the field. We need more role models like Tim Tebow!
