Roseanne Barr dominated headlines all over the internet after the comedian tweeted an offensive comment about Barack Obama’s former advisor, Valerie Jarrett. Since then, the backlash has been worse than she ever could have imagined, getting her fired from her eponymous show. Now, sources are saying that a spinoff of “Roseanne” is close to becoming a reality after Barr agrees to step away so that she will not financially profit from it.

Daily Mail reported that ABC and producer Carsey-Werner has insisted that Barr not be involved creatively or financially in the spinoff even though she created the show and its characters. Sources say now that she has walked away from the spin-off process, the next step is negotiating ‘go-away’ payoff money with her.

The spinoff would likely center around Sara Gilbert’s character of Darlene and stars John Goodman and Laurie Metcalf are both said to be tentatively onboard. The cast is expected to receive the same salary for the show that they had already negotiated for season two of “Roseanne.”

ABC is reportedly desperate to make this spinoff happen, as the network is on the hook to pay cast members for the 2018-2019 season, regardless of the cancellation. Goodman, Metcalf, and Gilbert have all negotiated a $300,000 per episode salary for themselves.

Meanwhile, Barr has lost the show she worked so hard to bring back and a lot of dignity in the process. Not only did she lose the $3 million she was going to make for season two of her show, she also lost millions more in residuals after other networks pulled all reruns of “Roseanne.” While we certainly do not support her tweet about Jarrett, we also believe in forgiveness and think that this poor woman has been punished enough for what she did. We’ve all made mistakes, and it’s time for people to accept Barr’s apology and allow her to move on with her life and her career.
