roseanne barr forgiveness

It’s been two and a half weeks since ABC canceled Roseanne Barr’s eponymous sitcom over an offensive tweet she posted about Valerie Jarrett, Barack Obama’s former advisor. Now, Barr has taken to Twitter once again to make a surprising announcement about forgiveness that her detractors would do well to listen to.

“I forgive everyone who hurt me. I forgive as fast as I can everyday. That is why I am able to live free. I want the best for everyone-I want no more racism or anti semitism or classism. I want peace! Let’s all move on & help FREEDOM!” Barr tweeted.

I forgive everyone who hurt me. I forgive as fast as I can everyday. That is why I am able to live free. I want the best for everyone-I want no more racism or anti semitism or classism. I want peace! Let’s all move on & help FREEDOM!

Barr has lost absolutely everything since the backlash over her tweet began. Not only did she lose the $3 million she stood to make for season two of “Roseanne,” which had already been picked up by ABC, she also lost millions more in residuals when other networks pulled all reruns of the sitcom.

While we certainly don’t support Barr’s initial tweet, we also think that canceling her show was more than enough of a punishment for her. Forgiveness is one of the most important Christian virtues, and it is now time for people to forgive Barr and allow her to move on with her life. It is sad that we live in a society that is taking such great pleasure in watching a woman have her life ruined.

Many Twitter users agree that it is time to forgive Barr:

Let’s forgive Roseanne Barr like the good Christians we should all strive to be!
