1000 dollar tip

An Oklahoma waitress got the gift of a lifetime when a truck driver left her a $1000 tip. Just an hour later, he returned for pie and left her another tip that will prove to be a game changer for the young mom.

Brenda Pearson works hard to support her family. Waiting tables is hard work. You have to deal with demanding customers sometimes. On top of that, there is the physical toll of being on your feet and bustling about a restaurant getting food and drinks. Last weekend, Brenda didn’t want to be away from her children on Mother’s Day, but she found herself scheduled to work at the Four Star Diner in Roland, Oklahoma.

What might have been a real chore to work on Mother’s Day ended up being a lottery jackpot when David Platt came in with a to go order. The Mississippi truck driver and the waitress chatted about life and their love of the Lord. When his bill of $11.16 arrived, he decided that he was going to do something remarkable for his new friend by leaving her a $1,000 tip.

Pearson was shocked! She had recently moved to town and was struggling with the financial costs associated with the move. This windfall of a tip was sure to help her out in a huge way.

David left the restaurant and then returned about an hour later for pie. That bill was $4.23 and the generous truck driver decided to leave another $1,000 tip. Brenda got $2,000 in tips from just one customer! Usually, $20 is a tip to get excited about at this Oklahoma restaurant. Everyone was stunned that David exceeded that one hundred fold!

David felt that Brenda could use a financial pick-me-up and he was grateful to be able to provide it for her. The humble truck driver said, “I got the impression that she was having a hard time of it, so I just thought I’d help her out a little bit.”

Brenda and David discuss the effects of this tip below. Everyone should see this video to witness how kindness and generosity can be a game changer for both the recipient and the giver.

What a wonderful story! This should certainly help Brenda’s family out. David’s kindness is worth recognizing. He was able to help and he did. That doesn’t happen as often as it should. Bravo!
