Walt Disney World’s Night of Joy was a celebration of Christian music that drew in some of the top names in the industry every September. But, Mickey and his colleagues have announced the park has canceled this beloved tradition that has been held since 1983.
The park claims it has terminated this Christian music tradition because Walt Disney World is “continually changing our offerings.” The Facebook page for “Night of Joy” was deleted, signaling that there are no plans for the Christian music festival to return to the Happiest Place On Earth.
Christian singers, such as Steven Curtis Chapman, Amy Grant, Newsboys, Casting Crowns, Chris Tomlin, Kirk Franklin, Michael W. Smith, and Debby Boone, who have performed at the festival over the years, will have to find another venue.
While the Christian music festival is no more, the park still will have its “Eat to the Beat” concert featuring Christian artists MercyMe and Tauren Wells.
The park’s West Coast counterpart, Disneyland, will continue hosting “Candlelight Ceremony,” which has occurred since the 1950s. Choirs sing traditional Christmas music as someone reads the Nativity story from the Gospel of Luke. For the moment, Disneyland can still tolerate Christian Christmas Carols. We will see what the future will hold for this longstanding tradition in today’s politically correct world.
Progressive atheists looking to purge God from all aspects of society may view the cancelation of “Night of Joy” as motivation to set its target on “Candlelight Ceremony” too.
“Night of Joy” has been hosted at the Magic Kingdom, with the exception of two years where it was at Hollywood Studios, before moving to ESPN Wide World Of Sports complex for the last two years.

It’s hard to imagine there not being a way to continue this Christian music tradition at Walt Disney World. The recent success of Christian movies at the box office certainly proves there is demand for faith-based entertainment. What was the real priority here?
Share this if you stand up for Christianity!
