Airline Stops Boarding Plane – Soldier Can’t Miss This Call

Our soldiers sacrifice so much while protecting our freedoms. Not only they do put their lives on the line for us, but they miss out on a lot while they are deployed. Army Specialist Brooks Lindsey was about to miss out on the birth of his daughter but thanks to airport personnel, he was able to watch live on his phone.

Lindsey’s wife was dealing with high blood pressure and pre-eclampsia. He was headed home to be with her during delivery, but she was not able to wait for him. Her water broke the morning of his flight home. His flight from Dallas to Jackson was delayed, so he was able to answer when his mom FaceTimed him.

“When my mom FaceTimed me and said ‘she’s pushing, it’s coming,’ I went off to the side to watch it by myself,” Brooks said. Fellow flyers gave him his space but watched from afar in anticipation.

He sat on the floor of the airport encouraging his wife through delivery. He couldn’t hold her hand, but he encouraged her to push with each contraction. It was time for him to board the airplane as his daughter began to crown. The doctor yelled, “Don’t let him board the flight! She’s here! She’s here!”

Airport personnel did just that. They gave him time and allowed him to watch the birth of his daughter. When other passengers heard the baby’s first cries, they cheered!

Watch Army Specialist Brooks Lindsey’s reactions in the video below.

While being in person would have been ideal, being able to witness it live was the next best thing. Many members of the military miss out on these events. The Lindsays are grateful that Brooks was able to watch and participate. Thankfully, he wasn’t in the air when his daughter arrived. He would have missed the experience entirely! What a homecoming that must have been when he arrived home to his family!
