veteran goodwill gift

Ron Hyde had decided to end chemotherapy when he encountered a miracle – the extreme kindness and generosity of strangers.

The Air Force veteran had a rather vacant apartment. He didn’t have much more than an old mattress in the corner of his home. He headed to the Goodwill to get a chair, but he didn’t have a way to transport it home. That’s when he was on the receiving end of a lot of goodwill from a community of strangers.

Community Pulls Together

A woman from the Goodwill posted on social media that a veteran needed some help bringing the chair home as he didn’t have a large enough vehicle for it. What happened next had Hyde dropping to his knees to thank God.

Just two days later, a U-Haul arrived at the California man’s home filled with items to make his apartment more comfortable and welcoming as he faced a very challenging time. Hyde was tearful as strangers put food in his pantry, brought him a proper bed, and gave him many more things to properly furnish his apartment. They even brought the veteran a television!

Hyde thanked God for the generosity of these strangers who stepped up to help him. They didn’t even know him, yet they were willing to help him out. Hyde was incredibly touched by these people who so selflessly gave to him as he faced the end of his life in an empty apartment.

It was a very emotional day for the veteran.

The kindness of strangers can be overwhelming as it’s completely unexpected. It’s rare enough for some people to have friends or family they can count on, so it is surprising when people you have never met before are willing to go the extra mile to help. That’s what these people did for Ron Hyde.

Share this if you support our veterans no matter the cost!
