Prince Philip hip surgery

Prayers are needed for Prince Philip who is undergoing a scheduled hip surgery at King Edward VII Hospital in London.

The 96-year-old Prince consort was unable to participate in Easter festivities, including attending church services with his wife, Queen Elizabeth. He also missed Holy Week’s Royal Maundy Service on Thursday and a parade on March 22 to mark Prince Andrew’s appointment as Colonel of the Grenadier Guards.

Buckingham Palace announced a statement about Philip’s surgery. It said, “His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh was admitted to King Edward VII Hospital in London this afternoon, for planned surgery on his hip which will take place tomorrow. Further updates will be issued when appropriate.”

The aging Duke of Edinburgh retired from his public duties at the end of last year after many decades of royal service. He has since appeared at several functions accompanying the Queen, but he is no longer performing duties on a solo basis.

This comes at a busy time for the Royal Family as Kate and William are expecting their third child soon and Harry will be marrying Meghan Markle this spring. Hopefully, Prince Philip will recover quickly from this surgery and be alleviated from the pain of a bum hip.

Prince Philip has been relatively healthy for a man of his age. He has suffered from heart disease and some other issues, but he is not one to complain about his ailments.

Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip have shared much laughter over their marriage, which spans seven decades. Philip’s sense of humor still catches the Queen off guard as she often finds herself chuckling over something her husband said or a costume he may have worn. A video including some of these special moments is below.
