Kate Middleton Could Break A 600 Year Old Royal Tradition!

The London rumor mill is running on overdrive with a lot of chatter that Kate Middleton is actually pregnant with twins.

If this actually occurs, it will be a first for the Royal House of Windsor. In fact, the British Royal Family hasn’t had twins since the 15th century. Kate would break a twin dry spell that has existed for over 580 years!

The last twins in the Royal Family were born in 1430 when Queen Joan had twin sons named Alexander and James.

Oddsmakers have increased the likelihood that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will have twins this spring. Currently, the odds are 4:1 and are expected to continue rising in the months leading up to Kate’s due date.

The possibility of Kate birthing twins raises some questions regarding succession. Currently, Princess Charlotte is fourth in line to the throne, after Princes Charles, William, and George. If Kate and William have twins, whichever one is born first will be fifth in line to the throne. If Kate has a Caesarian Section, the obstetrician actually will be the one who chooses which child is fifth in line to the throne.

Even if the Duchess gives birth to a boy (or two) this spring, Princess Charlotte’s line in succession will not change thanks to the Succession to the Crown Act. Since 2013, princes no longer take precedence over their sisters. This brought an end to male dominance with regards to the Crown. It’s also why Princess Charlotte bumped Prince Harry down a spot.

Prince William responded to a question about the possibility of having twins last month. He made a joke, but didn’t deny the possibility and helped fuel the rumor mill. ” “Twins? I think my mental health would be tested with twins,” William said. “Two is fine, I don’t know how I’m going to cope with three, I’m going to be permanently tired.”
