criminal gets locked in store

Criminals are usually very stupid individuals who almost always get caught by police soon after committing their crime.

Well, one would-be-thief in Houston, Texas proved just how dumb some thieves can be, and his capture can be credited to an extremely smart store employee.

A man named John Bell attempted to rob Latino Cellular but a quick-thinking employee named Katrina Leon refused to open the cash register and proceeded to walk out of the store with other customers, locking the robber inside the store.

Leon told ABC News that “As soon as he entered and he just pointed the gun at me, and I knew instantly I’m getting robbed again, but this time I didn’t open the cash register. I just locked him in, because when you lock the door outside, from the inside you can’t open it, so I knew he wasn’t going to be able to open it.”

Luckily, this store had bars on the windows and door, essentially caging Bell in with no way to escape. Bell initially tried to slam his body against the door, before resorting to prayer as a means of escaping.

In the security footage, Bell can be heard saying “Please! Please! Please! I’m sorry, please! Help, please!”

Unfortunately for Bell, he did not escape, and Houston police arrived quickly and arrested him. The robber pled guilty in December to the April 2017 robbery and was sentenced to five years in prison.

Kudos to Leon for her quick-thinking because things could have gone very badly for her and the other customers in the store. Even though this robber had a gun, he clearly was not prepared to rob the store and was quickly busted by the police.
