Sean Connery is a retired Scottish actor who is most known for being the first actor to play James Bond. In addition, he has starred in such hit films as The Untouchables, Marine, The Name of the Rose, The League of Extraordinary Gentleman, and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
As a young man in Scotland, Connery joined the British Royal Navy from 1947-1950, and while there, acquired two tattoos honoring his family and Scotland. Connery was eventually discharged from the Royal Navy on medical grounds because of a duodenal ulcer, a condition that afflicted most of the males in his family.
