Daniel Rushing

Daniel Rushing got the surprise of a lifetime while doing a good deed for a friend from church. After taking his friend to chemo, he stopped at a 7-11. He didn’t realize it, but this store was being monitored by police for drug activity. That likely wouldn’t have made him self-conscious, as he doesn’t do drugs.

However, Rushing’s lack of drug activity didn’t protect him from landing in jail that day. Police noticed he had a concealed handgun permit. He told them he was carrying and allowed them to search his car. After all, as a law-abiding citizen, he didn’t have anything to hide.

Rushing obliged the police in every aspect of the situation, but they were alarmed at something else they found in his car. They thought he had crystal meth. They tested it on-site and it came back positive, so they hauled the good Samaritan off to jail. Rushing thought this was all a joke as it wasn’t meth, but the glaze from a Krispy Kreme donut that caught their attention and landed him behind bars.

As he was being arrested for possession of crystal meth while being armed, he told the cops, “I’ve never even smoked a cigarette!” That didn’t matter much as he spent 10 hours in jail before making bond.

A recent investigation found that 21% of these tests give false positives. This is what happened to Rushing. It has caused him a lot of headaches since his 2015 arrest because he does security work. So, Rushing sued Orlando and the city had to fork over $37,500 for this major mistake.

Rushing discusses what happened during his surprising arrest in the video below.

Apparently, the old jokes about cops and donuts don’t apply here. They couldn’t distinguish between donut glaze and meth! Hopefully, the Orlando police get more accurate drug tests!

Share this ridiculous situation with friends and family to give them a laugh, too!
