Longtime Hollywood heartthrob John Stamos is officially off the market. The 54-year-old Full House star proposed to his 31-year-old girlfriend in a magical place over the weekend. He asked actress Caitlyn McHugh to be his wife in front of the castle at Disneyland.
Caitlyn is a huge Disney fan, so this location appeared to be the perfect setting for the beginning of their engagement. Stamos announced the engagement in a sweet social media post of a drawing of the two of them in front of the castle. Caitlyn is wearing her engagement ring on the right hand, which is traditional custom for the Greek Orthodox.

Stamos’ rep said the actor made a short film of romantic clips of Disney and Pixar movies. At the end of the film, Stamos was encouraged to “just ask the girl” much like the song Kiss The Girl from Little Mermaid. Stamos then did ask his girl to marry him. The newly engaged couple then went to the restaurant 21 Royal where they celebrated with their families.
Stamos and McHugh aren’t afraid to show affection towards each other in public. The couple has been spotted kissing and feeding each other frozen treats. But, McHugh promises their relationship will not be playing out in the headlines.
“We like to keep our lives private because we’ve seen what relationships in the public eye can be like and we just like our privacy,” the actress said. “We don’t want the commentary from the masses about what our relationship is or should be. We’re very happy together and we hope to be so for a long time.”
The pair recently worked together on a film titled Ingenueish, in which Stamos directed and McHugh starred.
McHugh does not hide from her love of all things Disney. The theme park and its characters dominate the actresses’ Instagram posts for this month. It’s clear why Stamos chose Disneyland as the setting for the proposal.
