You learn something every day and today I learned the consequences of trying to make something go viral on the internet.

The McCormacks were recently the victims of a huge storm but thankfully, they survived. Maria and Scott had a boat that was filled with water and the only thing to do was to scoop out the water to make things better. That’s when Scott realized there was something in the river.

Maria got the camera as Scott threw water into the river to capture the scene. Although it looked like a dangerous sea monster, it happened to be a group of manatees, and now this couple faces 60 days in jail for alleged animal endangerment and cruelty.

From Rumble:

“My husband was bailing water out of our boat after a huge storm. Every time he threw the water we saw splashes in the water. I happened to be recording on one of the tosses and we saw huge splashes of water everywhere. We both looked at each other and said ‘I will never swim in there again!'” Maria said about what they have witnessed.

The people of the Internet however are not impressed. The massive and frightening disturbance in the water was in fact an aggregation of manatees and now McCormack and her husband are facing up to 60 days in prison for alleged animal endangerment and cruelty.

Hopefully, the couple will not face any major time behind bars and they are able to fix what they have disturbed. They clearly did not mean to harm these creatures, and 60 days in jail does not seem right!

Do you think this couple should go to jail for their actions or was this just a harmless mistake? Share your thoughts in the comments section below!
