Blue Bloods

There will be big changes in the upcoming season of Blue Bloods. Viewers already know there will be a new mayor, but now Entertainment Weekly is reporting who that will be.

Mayor Poole (David Ramsey) resigned at the end of last season. He just didn’t have any fight left for the job. According to EW, Lorraine Bracco will be premiering as Mayor Margaret Dutton in the first episode of the show’s 8th season.

Dutton is a wealthy public advocate who is skilled at negotiations. She’s used to getting her way and this will likely set up a power struggle with Commissioner Frank Reagan, played by Tom Selleck.

Selleck’s character won’t care about the new mayor’s background or the fact that she comes from money. If he doesn’t believe she is serving the public’s best interest, you can bet he will call her out.

Blue Bloods is fortunate to have a tremendous amount of acting talent. Bracco brings an impressive resume and a familiar face from her role as Dr. Jennifer Melfi on The Sopranos. She will pair nicely with Tom Selleck, even if they are at odds with each other.

A clip from last season where Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck) informs Reverend Potter that they found his son’s killer can be seen below.

Season 8 is going to sport a very impressive lineup of actors. Vanessa Ray is also returning as Eddie Janko after a brief break from the show.
