Lone Ranger

Before televisions were in our family rooms, American families gathered around their radios to hear the news and listen to their favorite shows.

The Lone Ranger was a popular show for many years. Family members of all ages could listen together and then talk about the show. It was appropriate and fun for both children and adults.

In the video below, you can step back in a virtual time machine and hear The Lone Ranger’s “Crooked Banker and Sheriff” just as your family probably did in 1938!

Listening to radio shows takes more imagination than watching TV. You have to visualize the story you are listening to. Each family member might see it a bit differently, but that’s what made it so fun!
