Unfortunately, not everyone leaves a lasting impression in the wrestling world. There have been some champions who have been forgotten, so let us take a closer look at the least memorable champions in history!
Even though everyone remembers the Great Khali, you will find it difficult to remember his reign as the WWE World Champion. Also, the people that do remember his title reign tend to refer to it as the worst championship reign in WWE history.
Just like the Great Khali, Chyna is one of the more memorable people in WWE history. She won many titles including the Intercontinental Championship. However, fans do seem to forget that Chyna also had a Women’s Championship reign.
I had to look this one up, because I genuinely could not remember Hornswoggle ever being a WWE Champion! However, during my search I discovered Hornswoggle won the Cruiserweight title in 2007, only for the division to die shortly afterwards, since the credibility of the title was lost. This was not the only thing Hornswoggle won though, because he also won a Battle Royal!
Ahmed Johnson is certainly one of the forgotten WWE superstars, despite being heavily pushed by Vince McMahon in the past. However, Ahmed Johnson had some serious limitations where wrestling skills were concerned, so his title reign was certainly one of the most forgettable in history. It also didn’t help that he was seriously overshadowed by Shawn Michaels.
Yes, Vince McMahon actually held the ECW Championship and the WWE Championship. Despite big names such as Steve Austin, the Rock, Triple H, Mick Foley and the Undertaker on the roster then, creative decided to put the title on Vince. Naturally, a non-wrestler holding the title – even if that non-wrestler is Vince McMahon – delivers some forgettable television.
Ezekiel Jackson is another prime example of a pushed wrestler who was forgotten in the end. Despite looking like a superstar, Jackson is responsible for one of the worst reigns in history, which included some horrible matches and no character growth.
Don’t get me wrong, I love Curtis Axel and hope he gets another opportunity in the future, but so far he has not been able to step into his father’s footsteps. Even though he did get a run with the Intercontinental Championship, most people have forgotten about it.
If I would have to choose the most forgettable women’s champion in history, it would undoubtedly be Debra. Many of you won’t even remember Debra and even I find it hard to remember her today.
The way she obtained the title was even more ridiculous, because it involved looking better in undergarments than an opponent. Fortunately, women’s wrestling has evolved and we don’t have to deal with this mess any longer.
Is there another champion that should have been added to this list? Let us know who you believe is the most forgettable champion in WWE history, and we look forward to reading it!
