Kelly Ridings

Alzheimer’s robs people of their identity and dignity. But, the power of music can bring some relief to its victims and their families. That’s exactly what happened when one woman suffering from the disease was handed a guitar by her son, Kelly Ridings.

Kelly Ridings’ mother is one of those suffering from Alzheimer’s. Kelly is a Jiu-Jitsu fighter, but this tough guy is also a proud Momma’s Boy.

He shared some videos of him singing with his mom. One has gone mega viral as it really demonstrates his love as well as the power of music.

When he posted the video below Kelly wrote, “Mom is 88 now. She’s in assisted living and has Alzheimer’s but she can still play and sing better than anyone in my eyes. I realized while I was singing with her tonight, I had never videoed us singing together, so I captured a couple of songs for posterity. Most days I miss her, but she always comes back to me when we sing.”

Kelly added some more videos, including one of a Christian song. His mother raised him to be a strong Christian and he wanted to share that with the people following their story.

“Thank you all for your kind words; it has been an outpouring of the most gracious compliments. I never expected my original post to travel so far, but all things are possible with God! I have had an overwhelming number of people ask for another song of my mother playing the guitar and singing. I visited her yesterday and tried to explain just how much of an impact she has had on so many people around the globe. Although she couldn’t quite grasp the scope of her influence, she was more than eager to play and sing again. She even smiled for the camera this time!” he wrote when he posted the video below.

These videos are just lovely. The love Kelly Ridings and his mother have for each other is apparent. It’s amazing how music is able to bring her back from the grip of Alzheimer’s. God bless them!

Share this if you are praying for Kelly Ridings and his mother!
