This likely won’t come as a surprise to many, but apparently Meryl Streep is quite the demanding diva. Her dress designer has spilled the beans on her.
Meryl wanted an embroidered gray silk Chanel dress designed by Karl Lagerfeld. She ordered the dress with some couture adjustments for a higher neckline.
Apparently a gorgeous gown wasn’t enough for Meryl. After she ordered the gown, she canceled the order because she wanted her designer to pay her to wear the dress!
“I made a sketch, and we started to make the dress,” Lagerfeld told WWD then he got a call saying, “’Don’t continue the dress. We found somebody who will pay us.”
Chanel will give an actress a dress to wear, but the design house refuses to pay actresses to wear its dresses, so Meryl will not be sporting this gown specifically made at her request.
Lagerfeld made no bones about how he felt about Meryl’s demands, saying “A genius actress, but cheapness also, no?” Free isn’t good enough for Streep. Apparently she needs to be paid to wear a dress she had custom designed for her.
Whatever Meryl does wear, I’m sure it won’t be anywhere near as fabulous as Joy Villa’s Trump dress at the Grammys. You can see that in the video below.
If Meryl speaks, she’s likely to bash President Trump as she did at the Golden Globes. Who cares what an overpaid hypocritical diva thinks anyhow?
