George Strait is a country icon. In fact, he’s known to many as the King of Country! He single-handedly steered country music back to its roots and away from the pop country era in the 1980s.
One of his most popular songs, and one my personal favorites, is “Check Yes or No.” The song was written by Danny Wells and Dana Hunt Black. It debuted on George’s box set Strait Out of the Box. It hit #1 on the U.S. Hot Country Songs in 1995. It won Single of the Year at the Country Music Awards in 1996 and was nominated for Music Video of the Year in 1996.
Take a listen as King George sings “Check Yes or No” from the Astrodome.
I can’t help but sing along to “across the monkey bars to the merry-go-round.”
Share with your friends and family this classic George Strait song and let them know what country music is really all about!
