Hollywood doesn’t get it. They are so comfortable in their own bubble they really don’t have a clue how the rest of American views them.
Robert De Niro joined other members of the Hollywood elite in praising Meryl Streep for her attack on Donald Trump at the Golden Globes. He wrote the actress a letter, which was then given to People Magazine.
In spite of Streep’s debunked accusation that Trump mocked a disabled reporter, De Niro loved Meryl’s “beautiful” speech.
‘What you said was great. It needed to be said, and you said it beautifully. I have so much respect for you that you did it while the world was celebrating your achievements. I share your sentiments about punks and bullies. Enough is enough. You, with your elegance and intelligence, have a powerful voice – one that inspires others to speak up as they should so their voices will be heard too. It is so important that we ALL speak up.”
De Niro isn’t exactly a neutral person on the topic of Trump. The actor previously said he wanted to punch Donald Trump in the face as you can see in the video below!
While Meryl Streep was speaking about violence encouraging more violence, perhaps she should have addressed De Niro’s desire for violence against Trump. After all, isn’t she against that sort of thing? But, according to Meryl, Hollywood types like Roman Polanski should get passes on rape and violence so she is likely willing to look the other way for De Niro too.
Also, if both of these actors think violence encourages violence, why aren’t they speaking out about the violent movies made by Hollywood? De Niro has made a fortune in violent mafia movies. They are fine with violence as long as they are able to stuff money in their pockets because of it? What hypocrites!
