Katie Couric interviewed Betty White to commemorate the actress’ 95th birthday. Couric, who is being sued for defamation in her anti-Second Amendment documentary, tried to get the Golden Girl to speak out against Donald Trump.
But, Betty wasn’t having any of it.
Couric asked Betty about how very divided our country is. She even mentioned the incoming president being hateful.
Instead of saying a word about Trump, Betty gave Katie some ideas on dealing with her negativity.
“I think that’s the time to buckle down and really work positively as much as you can. Instead of just saying, ‘This is terrible. He’s terrible.’ Just think, ‘Alright, there’s nothing I can do about that right now but I can do the best in my little circle. So if I do that, maybe you’ll do your best and we’ll get through this,” the Golden Girl said.
Betty also pointed out that much of this division comes from thinking negatively.
“So many people think negatively it’s like ‘oh, you know what I hate?’ Instead of ‘alright, I”ll get through this.’ Then all of a sudden you start lifting up a little bit, but, if you start with ‘you know what I hate,’ you’re gonna go right down the tubes,” she said.
As you can see in the video below, Couric didn’t get the scoop she was looking for. I can sense her frustration! She needs to think positively as Betty recommends!
Perhaps Couric thought she could take advantage of Betty White’s advanced age by inserting her in a fight she doesn’t want to be in. It didn’t work!
