A high school football player in Troy, New York noticed something was missing when he went to take the field. He didn’t see the American flag anywhere.
In a display of awesome patriotism, Mechanicville High School lineman Daniel Hayner got his own flag and raised it high as the National Anthem was played.
His patriotic actions completely shamed Colin Kaepernick and other NFL players who have disrespected the National Anthem.
Hayner even referenced Kaepernick, “All the stuff that’s happening now with the flag and stuff, so I didn’t know if it was like that or where it was.”
He went on to call it “disrespectful” for not having the flag there.

Hayner told reporters, “People die to protect their country and for the flag. People disrespecting it all the time. It needs respect and for the people who served the country and respect it.
Catholic High School has since apologized for not having the flag on display. The principal released a statement, “The school did not have a flag prepared in a timely manner. As a principal, I take responsibility for that and we apologize if anyone was offended.”
