groucho marx

Groucho Marx was considered one of the finest comedians of the 20th century. He was well known during his vaudeville days. He was able to build on that and film 26 movies, 13 with his brothers Harpo and Chico.

Groucho wasn’t just funny. He sang, too. Naturally, his songs were pretty funny! In the video below, Groucho sings, “Lydia the Tattooed Lady” from the movie “At the Circus.”

It became Groucho’s signature song. He amended it through the years, later including Lydia’s tattoo of Hitler that was on her buttocks so she could sit on him. But, the video below is the original version of the song about a very tattooed woman.

“At the Circus” was released in 1939, but it’s still hilarious today. The Marx brothers work together to try to save a circus from closing. It’s worth watching on an at home movie night!

Please share this if you are a fan of the Marx brothers!
