If you have a pet, you understand the panic you’d feel if your furry buddy suddenly went missing. Imagine that panic if you were in the middle of the Great Lakes.
An Illinois couple was boating on Lake Michigan had a terrifying experience when their dog Riley suddenly went missing. When Ed and Kristen Cases couldn’t find her, they feared the worst.
They sent a mayday call begging for help finding their dog. Several fisherman came to help. So did the Coast Guard. One fisherman was the husband of Lynn Fiedor who runs Lost Dog Search Team.
Lynn shared the information about the missing dog Riley on Facebook to get the word out. The post was seen by over 20,000 people and a lot of folks were on the lookout for this pup. Tips came about a dog that looked like Riley, so the Cases headed that way.
With the help of Riley’s favorite squeaky toy, they found their dog. She had swum over 6 miles and walked about a dozen. This dog had the swim of her life. She is quite a survivor!
As you can see in the video below, Riley had as much drive and determination to find her family as they did to find her!
I’m so glad this has a happy ending. That is a long way to swim whether a person or a dog!
