Costa Concordia, shipwreck

In 2012, The Costa Concordia became the world’s largest passenger ship to wreck. Yes, it was bigger than the Titanic. Actually, it was twice the size of the Titanic.

It was wrecked off the coast of Isola del Giglio in Italy after the captain was showboating a “salute” to the island. The cruise ship was too close to land and struck a rock that ended up sinking the ship.

Despite the proximity to land, the ship was a total loss and 32 people were killed because Captain Francesco Schettino failed to call for help for over an hour after impact.

After being underwater for a handful of years, there are now pictures of the inside of the boat. Watch the video of the eerie aftermath below.

It’s amazing how one stupid mistake caused such destruction and so many lost lives and the pictures are truly haunting.

This once proud ship is now being scrapped, but these pictures will serve as a testament to the accident.

Do you think the ship should have been pulled from the water or left? Please share your thoughts.
