Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan is looking to keep his win-streak going with a new show called Landman, and the first trailer for it just dropped. The program will have quite the ensemble cast, with star Billy Bob Thornton, Demi Moore, and Jon Hamm.
Landman Trailer
Yellowstone remains one of the most popular shows on television. Indeed, that’s why fans could not be more excited about Sheridan’s latest creation.
“Set in the proverbial boomtowns of West Texas,” Landman is described as “a modern-day tale of fortune-seeking in the world of oil rigs…an upstairs/downstairs story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires fueling a boom so big, it’s reshaping our climate, our economy and our geopolitics.”
Thornton, who previously worked with Sheridan on 1883, stars in this new show as Tommy Norris. He narrates the trailer, saying, “The oil and gas industry makes $3 billion a day in pure profit, and it’s only getting bigger.”
Hamm and Moore portray Monty and Cami Miller, and they can be seen at a fancy black-tie event in the trailer.
“Before any of that money is made, you gotta secure the land and manage the people,” Thornton’s Tommy can be heard saying. “That’s my job. The first part’s pretty simple — it’s the second part that can get you killed.”
An oil rig is then seen exploding.
‘Welcome To The Oil Business’
“The world has already convinced itself that you are evil and I am evil,” Hamm’s Monty says while attending what looks to be an intense meeting, “for providing them with the one thing they interact with every day.”
“Getting oil out of the ground’s the most dangerous job in the world,” Thornton’s Tommy chimes back in to say. “We don’t do it ’cause we like it. We do it ’cause we run out of options.”
The trailer juxtaposes the glamorous lives of the wealthy characters with the difficult lives of those on the ground doing the physical labor.
“Welcome to the oil business,” Thornton’s Tommy says as the trailer comes to an end.
Landman also stars Ali Larter, Michelle Randolph, James Jordan, Jacob Lofland, Mark Collie, Kayla Wallace, and Paulina Chávez. The show premieres on Paramount+ on November 17.

Hamm Speaks Out On Landman
Hamm opened up about Landman in an interview earlier this year.
“It’s not actually cowboy-oriented at all,” Hamm told People Magazine back in March. He added that the show is “more in the world of oil.”
“It’s based on oil speculators and what they called landmen, which are the guys that run around and try to acquire mineral rights and land rights in the hope of speculating and finding oil,” the former Mad Men star continued. “There’s a lot of oil under the ground here in Texas and they are constantly trying to find it.”
Meanwhile, Hamm went on to make it clear that he’s very excited about this show.
“There’s a lot of back and forth, a lot of intrigue and things like that,” Hamm added. “It’s Taylor Sheridan and obviously it’s very well written…It’s very well-researched. It’s a story very well told, and I think it’s an interesting take on what happens when it comes to how we get the stuff that makes our cars and our lives and our planes and everything in our modern world go.”
‘Billy Bob Thornton And Demi Moore’
The star-studded cast was also a major draw for Hamm to sign on for this project.
“It’s got Billy Bob Thornton and Demi Moore, so it’s a tremendous cast and it’s been super fun to work on,” he explained. “And obviously, Taylor Sheridan’s in charge of everything, so it’s a great project. It’s a good story. People are going to enjoy it.”
Unlike much of Hollywood these days, Sheridan has his finger on the pulse of what American viewers actually want to watch. That’s why you should be sure to check out Landman when it premieres in November!
