One Piece is ready for more action ahead of its season 2 premiere, as the Netflix series is now renewed for season 3.

While the newest season will not premiere until 2026, the announcement came at this past weekend’s annual One Piece Day celebration in Tokyo, Japan.

What We Know About Season 3 So Far

Production for the third season starts later this year in Cape Town, South Africa.

The series will also get a new rotation of co-showrunners. Ian Stokes will join Joe Tracz as co-showrunner, succeeding Matt Owens. Owens departed in March after co-showrunning seasons 1 and 2. Tracz became co-showrunner in season 2 after Steven Maeda left the show.

As of now, there have been no premiere dates or loglines released for season 3.

What is One Piece Season 2 About?

The second season of One Piece is titled Into the Grand Line. The official description is below:

“Netflix’s epic high-seas pirate adventure, ‘One Piece,’ returns for Season 2—unleashing fiercer adversaries and the most perilous quests yet. Luffy and the Straw Hats set sail for the extraordinary Grand Line—a legendary stretch of seas where danger and wonder await at every turn. As they journey through this unpredictable realm in search of the world’s greatest treasure, they’ll encounter bizarre islands and a host of formidable new enemies.”

Cast

The main cast for One Piece includes Iñaki Godoy, Mackenyu, Emily Rudd, Jacob Romero, and Taz Skylar.

Additional cast in the first season include Vincent Regan, Ilia Isorelýs Paulino, Morgan Davies, Aidan Scott, Langley Kirkwood, Jeff Ward, Celeste Loots, Alexander Maniatis, McKinley Belcher III, Craig Fairbrass, Steven Ward, and Chioma Umeala.

We will see several additional cast members in season 2. This includes David Dastmalchian, Katey Sagal, Sendhil Ramamurthy, and Joe Manganiello.

Behind the Scenes

One Piece was created in partnership with Shueisha and produced by Tomorrow Studios and Netflix. Executive producers for season 2 are Tracz, Owens, Eiichiro Oda, Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, Tetsu Fujimura, Chris Symes, Christoph Schrewe, and Steven Maeda.

Owens and Tracz also act as writers and co-showrunners.

When Does Season 2 Premiere?

While season 2 of One Piece does not have a release date yet, it is slated to premiere in 2026. The streaming platform has released a first look at the new season, along with first-look images on its social media pages.

The Success of One Piece on Netflix

A beloved manga series, One Piece, has taken the live-action world by storm, too. The series centers around Monkey D. Luffy on his quest to find the legendary fabled treasure, the One Piece, and become King of the Pirates.

After the first season debuted in 2023, it spent eight weeks on the Global Top 10, reaching number one in over 75 countries. The show has nearly 100 million views and is one of Netflix’s most downloaded series of all time.
