The game show Jeopardy!’s Second Chance Competition is set to begin tonight, and fans couldn’t be more excited.
This Second Chance event is a two-week opportunity for contestants who did not win their original games. However, they came so close to victory that producers of the iconic game show decided to give them another shot.
Each week of the competition will culminate in one winner being crowned. Once both weeks are complete, the two winners will advance to the Champions Wildcard Tournament for players who didn’t initially make the ToC. The two winners from that will then compete in the ultimate event: the 2025 Tournament of Champions.

Fans Respond
Fans have been taking to social media to weigh in on how this will turn out.
“My predictions: week 1: Will, Kaitlin, Gino,” one fan wrote. “Week 2: Drew, Enzo, Ferdinand.”
“Team Enzo baby!” another commented. This was a reference to the player who nearly beat 15-day champ Adriana Harmeyer.
“I think Drew would likely win the 2nd half. He kinda resembles a 1980s George Michael during the Wham days,” a third user wrote. This fan is rooting for a player who nearly defeated three-day champ and Clint Eastwood lookalike David Erb.
“Holy cow, Enzo/Zoe/Josh is a tough draw for all three,” another Jeopardy! viewer commented.
The 2025 postseason tournaments will be airing until early February of 2025. The Tournament of Champions is set to begin airing on January 27, 2025.
Ken Jennings’ Uncertain Future
This comes after it was revealed that longtime host Ken Jennings does not have a long-term contract for the $4 million hosting gig on Jeopardy! While he is set to continue hosting Jeopardy! next season, it’s unclear if Jennings will be able to secure the gig for the foreseeable future, or if the producers will go in another direction.
“Of course Ken wants to do this for the next twenty years, but he’s going to have to get comfortable with only being renewed one or two years at a time for the foreseeable future,” a source previously explained. “Sony is keeping him in the hosting job but they are also keeping their options open.”
One possible replacement for Jennings could be the Saturday Night Live! star Colin Jost, who is currently hosting Pop Culture Jeopardy! on Amazon Prime. It was surprising to many that Jennings was not tapped to host this show.
“At Sony TV, getting Colin to come aboard Jeopardy! was a major coup,” an insider told The Sun last month. “Mainly because Colin’s corporate home for twenty years has been [rival media company] NBC Universal.”
“It was a big deal for the Sony execs to get him for Jeopardy! and he’s definitely got a ton of wiggle room to do his thing and add to the humor of the shows where he sees fit,” the source continued. “And Colin has more experience with live TV than almost anybody involved with Jeopardy!“
