The last episodes of the fifth and final season of the hit show Yellowstone finally began airing on Sunday night. Cole Hauser, who plays Rip Wheeler on Yellowstone, is now speaking out to let fans know that their theories about how the show will end are wrong.

Hauser Sends Message To Fans

“This show and what they think this season is going to be, everybody has their opinion of it,” Hauser told Reuters. “And to be quite honest, none of them are right.”

Even some Yellowstone cast-members surprisingly don’t know for sure how the show will end. Indeed, show-runners redacted scripts to preserve the secret behind the conclusion of the show.

Season five of Yellowstone was split into two parts. The last six episodes began airing on Paramount on Sunday night. Back in September, Hauser teased the final episode in another interview.

Hauser later praised Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan.

“Taylor is such an amazing writer, and he’s just done a great job again of trying to wrap this thing up and not into a perfect bow… it never really is with ‘Yellowstone,’ but it’s some really dramatic stuff, and it’s heartfelt… it’s different than past seasons certainly but in a good way,” he continued.

Hauser then teased rumors about a potential sixth Yellowstone season.

“You’ll have to see,” he said with a laugh. “I can’t comment right now, but listen, in a perfect world it would be amazing to see this thing go on, but there’s a lot of different people involved in that decision… but I hope so … it would be fun.”

Kevin Costner’s Exit

Kevin Costner, who played patriarch John Dutton on the show, announced earlier this year that he would not be returning to film the last episodes. His character was killed off by suicide in the first few minutes of Sunday’s episode.

In a September interview, Costner said that he believes that he has more to explore in life.

“That’s been a wonderful part of my life, you know, making Yellowstone,” he said at the time. “And who knows, sometimes some things have a way of circling back.”

“I haven’t seen that dust trail coming toward me,” Costner added. “But I’ve always been open to what I started. And the five seasons was a lot for us to do. I think that, you know, that story is not finished.”

Kelly Reilly And Luke Grimes Weigh In

Kelly Reilly, who plays Beth Dutton on Yellowstone, previously said that the media reports on Costner’s exit was full of “untruths.”

“The way that Taylor has ended this season is the way he always intended it to. … So, there was a small pivot that it had to happen sooner, but it then energized us creatively,” she explained.

Luke Grimes, who plays Kayce Dutton, opened up last week about filming the final Yellowstone episodes without Costner.

“Him not coming back felt like, ‘Okay, we’re going to have to land this plane now for real,'” Grimes told People Magazine. “I think the patriarch leaving was always going to be part of the story. That’s always where it was headed is like, what do these kids do? What does this family do when their rock is gone?”

“Whatever the circumstances may be, [it] definitely felt like, ‘Okay, we’re coming in for a landing,'” he added of Costner’s absence. “It definitely felt different.”

The next episode of Yellowstone airs at 8pm on Sunday on Paramount. Be sure to check it out to see how this epic show will end!
