The Hollywood star Shannen Doherty of Beverly Hills 90210 and Charmed fame lost her battle with breast cancer on Saturday. She was only 53 years 0ld. Now, Doherty’s co-stars are speaking out to pay tribute to her and her life.
Doherty’s Death
Doherty’s death was confirmed by her publicist Leslie Sloane.
“The devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend was surrounded by her loved ones as well as her dog, Bowie,” Sloane told Fox News on Sunday. “The family asks for their privacy at this time so they can grieve in peace.”
Doherty was diagnosed with breast cancer back in 2015. At the time, she said that it had spread to one lymph node. Though her cancer went into remission two years later, Doherty announced in 2020 that it had returned as Stage 4.
Sadly, the cancer then metastasized to her bones and brain. At the end of last month, Doherty revealed that her treatments were no longer working for her, and that she was preparing to die.

Doherty’s Beverly Hills, 90210 Co-Stars Honor Her
Since news of Doherty’s death broke, her former co-stars have been speaking out to praise her.
Beverly Hills, 90210 co-star Jennie Garth praised her friend on Instagram.
Doherty and Garth starred together on Beverly Hills, 90210 from 1990 until 1994.
“Our connection was real and honest,” Garth continued. “We were so often pitted against each other but none of that reflected the truth of our real relationship which was one built on mutual respect and admiration. She was courageous, passionate, determined and very loving and generous.”
“I will miss her and will always honor her deeply in my heart and in my memories,” she concluded. “My heart breaks for her family and Bowie.”
Their Beverly Hills 90210 co-star Tori Spelling honored Doherty as well.
“I don’t have outward words yet…but WE knew and that’s what matters,” Spelling wrote alongside a photo of herself and Doherty.
Doherty’s Charmed Co-Stars Speak Out
Alyssa Milano, who starred with Doherty on the television series Charmed from 1998 until 2001, also honored the actress after her death.
“It’s no secret that Shannen and I had a complicated relationship, but at its core was someone I deeply respected and was in awe of,” Milano said.
“She was a talented actress, beloved by many and the world is less without her,” she added. “My condolences to all who loved her.”
Rose McGowan, who replaced Doherty on Charmed after she left the series, had one of the more emotional tributes for her.
“I can’t stop crying,” McGowan replied to an Instagram comment. “A world without Shannen Doherty is inconceivable.”

‘Shannen Doherty Had The Heart Of A Lion’
McGowan later doubled down in a longer Instagram tribute.
“Shannen Doherty had the heart of a lion. Passion for craft is often mislabeled as trouble. Shannen was passion,” she wrote.
Doherty was a truly iconic actress, and there will never be another one like her. Please join us in saying a prayer for Doherty’s loved ones during this tragic time.
