“Ho ho ho. Translation: I’m back in the shop,” Allen says in the trailer in a throwback to his signature grunts from “Home Improvement.”
“We still got it man, at least I do,” Allen teases, with Karn replying, “You got something.”
Allen and Karn are serving as both hosts and executive producers for the show.
The History Channel’s description for the program states that the two of them will be joined by DIY expert April Wilkerson. She’ll assist them in challenging contestants to “breathe new life into everyday household items in desperate need of fixing.”

The History Channel Teases New Show
The History Channel describes the show:
“Assembly Required reunites Tim Allen with Richard Karn in this new competition series that spotlights the best and brightest builders from across the country, at their home workshops, as they compete to breathe new life into everyday household items in desperate need of fixing.
This new series will push each contestant to their limits while testing their ability and ingenuity to not only rebuild it but to build it better. In each episode, Allen and Karn will also dive into the unique history around these items to celebrate the men and women who crafted them, and the techniques used.”
Allen And Karn Speak Out
Allen himself could not be more excited to be back onscreen with Karn.
“They say a longtime friend is someone who responds with, ‘This is by far your worst idea ever.’ Fortunately, this was a great idea working with Richard,” Allen said, according to Yahoo News. “I loved those days doing Tool Time.”
“We both share a great appreciation of people who can solve a problem not by talking about it, but by ‘doing’ it with creativity and amazing building skills,” he added. “Plus, it gives me more time to make fun of his fake beard.”

Karn is also ecstatic to be teaming up with his good friend Allen once again.
“Tim has always been jealous of my facial hair — mainly because when he grows his it looks a bit off — but I will say this has been one of his best ideas ever,” he said. “Working alongside him has been the bright spot of this difficult year.”
“We see eye to eye on a lot of things, but if nothing else this show has brought out the differences in our own personal design preferences and when you add in the creativity of our contestants, well, let’s just say it brings me great joy to be a part of this!” Karn continued.
“Assembly Required” is set to premiere on The History Channel for a 10-episode run on February 23.
With Allen and Karn at the helm, this is definitely a show that all “Home Improvement” fans should be checking out!
