Steph Curry isn’t just one of the NBA’s greatest players. He’s also a proud Christian and he shares the Word of God with his teammates in Bible study.
The Golden State Warriors have won three of the last four NBA Championships.
They have a winning formula together on and off the court.
They put in a tremendous amount of practice hours, but they also pray together.
Curry reminds his teammates that faith is more important than basketball and is leading his teammates to the Lord.
Game-Day Bible Study
“Every game day we probably have 10, 11 guys show up for the 30-minute Bible study, prayer service, daily encouragement — that’s the biggest thing,” he said. “You can get lost in the daily routines and the hype of what we do on the floor and forget why we’re here.”
The MVP of the NBA Finals reports that this spiritual camaraderie helps ward off temptations that often come with fame and fortune.
He is grateful for the gifts God has bestowed upon him but remains humble to his core.
“You ask anybody in their walk of faith — it’s all about finding accountability partners and finding people that can encourage you in your walk. Knowing nobody’s perfect,” Curry continued. “We all have very similar temptations, struggles through [our] entire walk of faith. For us on the court we all grind and compete on the floor, so why not grind and compete in our spiritual walk together as well.”
Curry Honors God
Curry has been outspoken about his faith for years. The basketball superstar doesn’t shy away from talking about his love for Jesus Christ and how that love drives him. Video of him discussing his Christianity and being saved can be seen in the video below.
This isn’t something you hear often from a basketball player of Curry’s success.
Devotion and determination have paid off for this successful athlete who always finds a way to honor God on the basketball court.
