Apple TV+ drama thriller starring Gary Oldman is finally back with a new season. Slow Horses season 5 was released on September 24 and kicked off with two episodes, which will be followed by one release a week until the finale on October 22. The espionage drama follows a dysfunctional team of British intelligence agents who end up in a group called Slough House after making major career mistakes. Leading the cast is Oldman, who plays Jackson Lamb, who is described in the show as the team’s “brilliant but cantankerous” leader.
One of the reasons why Slow Horses is beloved so much by viewers is that it never fails to release a new season every year since its debut two seasons ago in 2022.
“It’s a testament to the show, but also how we respect the viewers,” actor Christopher Chung, who portrays Roddy Ho, says. “Apple has been so insightful in commissioning so far ahead of anything else and allowing the audience to grow, and allowing the audience to have that loyalty to the show.”
Since its release, the show has also received a bigger audience. “The first and second seasons were a real slow burn, the people who watched it were really into it, and they definitely binged it,” according to Chung. “I didn’t expect it to kind of explode the way that it has passed the last two seasons. It’s been really lovely to know that the viewership has grown really organically.”
Along with Oldman and Chung, the show stars Jack Lowden and Kristin Scott Thomas. The show is based on the best-selling Slough House spy novels by Mick Herron.
Slow Horses season 5’s official logline reads: “Everyone is suspicious when resident tech nerd Roddy Ho has a glamorous new girlfriend, but when a series of increasingly bizarre events occur across the city, it falls to the Slow Horses to work out how everything is connected. After all, Lamb knows that in the world of espionage, the London Rules — cover your back — always apply.”
Slow Horses season 5 is available on Apple TV+, with the first two episodes already available since Wednesday, September 24. After that, a new episode will be released a week later until the season finale on October 22. With a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Slow Horses is one show that everyone should binge.
