The Hollywood star Sigourney Weaver of Alien and Avatar fame is speaking out this week to say that she does not think it’s possible for Republicans to be actors.

Weaver Attacks Republicans
In an interview with The New York Times, Weaver said that though she grew up in a conservative household, she can’t understand how Republicans could ever become actors.
“I think as an artist, we tell these stories about self-expression, about the people’s welfare and how vulnerable they are, and I don’t know how you could be a Republican and tell the stories that actors tell,” said Weaver, 73.
“I’m sure I’m wrong, I’m sure there are lots of Republicans that could, but you have to be able to play anyone, which forces you to have compassion for people with other positions and reinforces your conviction that people need freedom,” she continued.

What About Jon Voight?
Of course, Weaver could not be more wrong in making this ridiculous claim. There are plenty of Republican actors out there who have been far more successful than she ever has been. While Weaver has never won an Academy Award, Jon Voight is an Oscar-winning star who has long been unapologetic about his conservative views. He was a proud supporter of the former President Donald Trump, and he has regularly spoken out against Joe Biden over the years.
“I’m a conservative, as you know, and I’m not so happy with government involvement in anything,” Voight told CBS News last year. “I’m very concerned about our country. I’m very concerned about this attack on free speech. I don’t like it that we can’t sit down and talk about everything. We’re all unique. There’s no one that’s different or better or whatever it is. We all are unique.”

Other Conservative Actors
Other conservative stars include Dean Cain, Patricia Heaton, Nick Searcy, and Tim Allen, the last of whom has compared being a conservative in Hollywood to living in Nazi Germany.
“You’ve got to be careful around here. You’re going to get beat up if you don’t believe what everybody believes. This is like 30s Germany,” Allen once said, according to The Guardian.
Cain, who is best known for playing Superman on television, also recently opened up about what it’s like to be a conservative in Hollywood.
“[The ‘woke mob’s’ message] is shut your mouth, stay in line, or you’ll be canceled,” Cain told Fox News. “The weird, ironic thing to me is that those who are screaming about inclusivity and acceptance, they want dissenting voices silenced. They do not want free speech, and that’s the definition of fascism.”

James Woods Is A Republican
One of the most outspoken Republicans in Hollywood is James Woods, a two-time Oscar nominee who has 143 film and television credits to his name, according to IMDB. Woods, who was also a proud supporter of Trump, has claimed that he was “blacklisted” by Hollywood for being a conservative, according to USA Today.
“I’ve never witnessed such hatred for a man who is willing to work for free to make his beloved country a better place,” Woods tweeted of Trump back in 2017. “It is pathological.”

This all just goes to show that Weaver was as wrong as she could possibly be when she said that Republicans can’t be actors. Her comments show what an out of touch member of the liberal elite she really is, and if anything would make it more difficult to be a good actor, it’s being as out of touch with reality as she clearly is.
