Sharon Osbourne and her Black Sabbath rocker husband Ozzy Osbourne have decided that they will be moving back to the United Kingdom due to the out-of-control taxes in the liberal-run state of California.
But first, this week marks 20 years since the first episode of the Osbournes’ reality show “The Osbournes” aired on MTV. Time really does fly, doesn’t it?!
This day in music Part 7
2002 – Ozzy Osbourne

Osbournes Leaving U.S. Over Taxes
Daily Mail reported that after living in the ritzy area of Beverly Hills for 25 years, the Osbournes are planning to sell their home and move to their other property named Welders House, which is located in Buckinghamshire.
‘We are leaving L.A. We are a bit sad. But the tax is getting too much. I am sad because I really really like staying and living there,” Ozzy, 73, told The Mirror. “If they do the taxes better then I may come back. I do not know.”

The Osbournes already seem to be deep into planning the logistics of this move.
“I am taking my recording studio with me,” Ozzy said. “I am going to build a barn there and make my own studio at Welders. I will still be making music and my band will come over.”
The federal tax rate in the U.S. is 28%, and California has an additional 13% tax rate, making living there quite costly.

Osborune Biopic In The Works
This comes after it was revealed that Ozzy and Sharon’s love story will be chronicled in a feature film biopic that will be written by Academy Award nominee Lee Hall. The soundtrack for the movie will feature music from both Black Sabbath and from Ozzy’s career as a solo artist.
“Our relationship at times was often wild, insane and dangerous but it was our undying love that kept us together,” Sharon, 69, told Variety. “We’re thrilled to partner with Sony Pictures and Polygram to bring our story to the screen.”
Sharon was only 18 when she met the 22-year-old Ozzy in 1970, but they did not become romantic with one another until 1979. After divorcing his first wife Thelma Riley in 1982, Ozzy married Sharon that same year, and they have had some wild ups and downs in the years since then.
The couple have three children: Aimee, Kelly and Jack.

Ozzy Once Arrested For Attempted Murder
Most infamously, Ozzy was arrested for attempting to kill Sharon in 1989. Despite this, Sharon remained married to Ozzy.
“I told him, ‘I don’t want the money … but if you do this again, either I am going to kill you or you are going to kill me. And do you want that for the kids?'” she recalled in 2020.
This will certainly be one interesting biopic!
We wish the Osbournes the best of luck with that endeavor, and with their move across the pond, as many Americans will be able to relate to their frustrations over the taxes in this country’s liberal-run states.
