Richard Sherman, a cornerback for the San Francisco 49ers, is getting backlash on Twitter today. Before the Super Bowl he said he would not be visiting the White House if his team won. Since the 49ers lost to the Kansas City Chiefs, he did not get invited to the White House after all.
Richard Sherman Says He Won’t Visit White House
When Sherman was asked before the game if he would be visiting Donald Trump’s White House, he replied, “I haven’t thought about it. We’ve got a long way between now and then, but I doubt it.”

He should visit. It’s a nice tour – your congressman can help get tickets.

Liberal Athletes Refuse To Visit White House
Many liberal athletes have taken to refusing to go to the White House after winning sporting events to protest against President Donald Trump. Athletes going to the White House was once an honor that everyone could enjoy, regardless of their political affiliation. It’s unfortunate that liberals have now turned it into a political act.
One athlete who refused to visit Trump’s White House is Washington Nationals Pitcher Sean Doolittle
“There’s a lot of things, policies that I disagree with, but at the end of the day, it has more to do with the divisive rhetoric and the enabling of conspiracy theories and widening the divide in this country,” he said, according to The Washington Post. “My wife and I stand for inclusion and acceptance, and we’ve done work with refugees, people that come from, you know, the ‘s***hole countries.'”
Soccer star Megan Rapinoe also refused, with a clip surfacing on social media of her saying “I’m not going to the f—— White House” after her teams championship win.
Thankfully, Sherman did not get the opportunity to turn down a White House visit because Trump does not throw out invites to losers.
