Fans of the beloved reality show Duck Dynasty – and if you’re a Mix reader, we know you are! – should bust out the party hats: A&E announced that the Robertsons are back.
Duck Dynasty: The Revival
Like the original show, Duck Dynasty: The Revival will follow the Robertson family, this time focusing on Willie and Korie Robertson as they figure out the future of their family’s Duck Commander business. Meanwhile, they’ll watch their children navigate their adult lives.
“With their dynasty expanding into more than just ducks, Willie and Korie will bring their signature humor and family fun as they grapple with mapping out the future of Duck Commander, watching the kids navigate marriage, children and businesses of their own, and passing down the family legacy,” reads the official log-line of the show.
A&E has already ordered two 10-episode seasons of the show. The first season of Duck Dynasty: The Revival will begin airing sometime this summer (and you can bet your bottom dollar we will bring you the latest!)
The original Duck Dynasty ran for 11 seasons over the course of five years. During that time, it was the hottest unscripted series on cable TV. Indeed, the season four premiere of Duck Dynasty drew in a whopping 11.8 million viewers in August of 2013. A&E is clearly hoping to replicate that success with Duck Dynasty: The Revival.
A&E And Robertsons Speak Out
“The Robertsons earned a seat in homes across the country with their unique brand of down-home practicality, Southern charm and relatable humor,” Elaine Frontain Bryant, executive vp and head of programming for A&E and Lifetime, told The Hollywood Reporter. “Duck Dynasty played a huge part of the success of A&E for many years, and we look forward to reuniting with the Robertsons on the revival.”
Willie and Korie Robertson have already broken their silence to express their excitement about the new show.
“Going back on A&E feels a little like going back home,” they said in a statement of their own. “We’re thankful for all who have followed along as our family has grown and expanded and can’t wait to get cameras rolling again on all our new adventures, or perhaps misadventures.”
Duck Dynasty: Revival will feature Willie and Korie along with Willie’s mother Kay, Uncle Si and Willie and Korie’s kids John Luke, Sadie, Will, Bella and Rebecca. Sadly, the family’s patriarch Phil Robertson, who is Willie’s father, is not listed among the reality show’s cast members.

Phil’s Alzheimer’s Battle
While no reason for Phil’s absence has been given, it likely has something to do with his current battle with Alzheimer’s disease. The family revealed his diagnosis to the world last month. Willie told Fox News at the time that Phil, 78, is “battling a lot of different things right now.”
“He’s got a blood disorder, and then he’s got the mental issues that could be early [on-set] Alzheimer’s … and probably some mini-strokes because of his blood,” Willie explained. “And so, it could be some stroke stuff happening, that has happened.”
“So, we’re still checking on all that,” he continued. “But then he also has a back issue, he’s fractured his back and that’s where the pain’s at. So, he’s kind of battling many different things at the same time.”

We will continue to pray for Phil’s health, and we hope that he can make an appearance on Duck Dynasty: The Revival. We also can’t wait to have the Robertson’s back in our homes this summer with this reboot of their iconic reality show!
