This is not the first Pride and Prejudice adaptation, though, as the 2005 movie starring Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen has been cherished by fans for years now, believing it’s the best of them all. Hopefully, the series will live up to the fans’ expectations.

Bestselling author Dolly Alderton and director Euros Lyn have started the production of their upcoming adaptation of Jane Austen’s novel. The six-part limited series will tell the story of Elizabeth Bennet, who learns about the repercussions of hasty judgments and comes to appreciate the difference between superficial goodness and actual goodness.
“Once in a generation, a group of people get to retell this wonderful story, and I feel very lucky that I get to be part of it,” Alderton said in a statement. “Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice is the blueprint of romantic comedy – it has been a joy to delve back into its pages to find both familiar and fresh ways of bringing this beloved book to life.”
The show has announced three of its stars already: Emma Corrin (The Crown and Nosferatu) as Elizabeth Bennet, Jack Lowden (Benediction and Dunkirk)as Mr. Darcy, and Olivia Colman (The Favourite and The Lost Daughter) as Mrs. Bennet.

“Playing Elizabeth Bennet is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” said Corrin. “To be able to bring this iconic character to life, alongside Olivia and Jack, with Dolly’s phenomenal scripts, is truly the greatest honor. I can’t wait for a new generation to fall in love with this story all over again.”
Joining Corrin, Lowden, and Colman are Sewell (The Diplomat, Scoop) as Mr. Bennet, Mavor (Industry, La Dame Dans L’Auto Avec des Lunettes et un Fusil) as Jane Bennet, Norwood (Heartstopper, Cabaret) as Lydia Bennet, and Hopey Parish and Hollie Avery as Mary and Kitty Bennet in their screen debuts.
The Bennet sisters’ suitors are Demetrious as Mr. Collins, McCormack as Mr. Bingley, and Patridge as Mr. Wickham.
“We are delighted to be sharing this beloved British classic with our global audience. Pride and Prejudice is the ultimate romantic comedy,” said Netflix executive Mona Qureshi. “Dolly’s fierce intelligence and enormous heart, twinned with her genuine love of the Austen novel, means she is able to bring new insights, whilst celebrating all that the generations of fans hold so dear.”
That being said, fans are in for an amazing story that you don’t want to miss. While there is no firm release date yet, but its anticipated to be released between 2026 and 2027.
