Mike Rowe recently surprised everyone by moving his hit show “Somebody’s Gotta Do It,” to the Trinity Broadcasting Network. Since making this move, Rowe has received some criticism from people who feel he made the wrong decision in moving to a Christian television network.
Now, Rowe is firing back at these naysayers in a huge way!
The Christian Post reported that one critic said that Rowe is “being used as a pawn to sell this current administration” because “Christian networks are QVC for Trump.” Rowe was not having any of this, however, and he immediately spoke out to respond to this allegation. He pointed out that he rarely talks about politics publicly and that he has never even mentioned President Donald Trump on his show, so he finds it strange that people would claim that he is being used as a piece of political propaganda.
“The country is clearly divided, but does that mean I’m only allowed to talk to half?” Rowe said. “I run a foundation that awards work ethic scholarships, and I produce TV shows that I want people to watch. All people. Consequently, I’ll put the programs I produce on any channel that wants them.”
Anyone who has ever seen “Somebody’s Gotta Do It” knows that there is nothing political about it. The show highlights people who are doing good in the world and centers around everyone from scientists to entrepreneurs. Rowe explained that the people on his show “do what they do because of a weird mix of love, compulsion, obsession, dedication — whatever it is.” Each of the people on his show are proud Christians, which makes it very fitting that the program would be on a Christian network.
Another unnamed critic claimed that Rowe highlights people who have their “head in the sand” by using “one of the only things that tugs at their heart strings.” Rowe said that this claim is wrong as well, as he believes that people have their heads buried in the sand because they’re “tired of grandstanding journalists and elected officials whose only priority is to remain in power.”
We can’t help but think that most of these critics are liberals who have always had a problem with Rowe’s openness about his Christian faith. We’re so glad to see that Rowe is not backing down to these naysayers, and we applaud him for having the courage to continue being an outspoken Christian!
