Despite the fact that critics widely panned the first episode of Meghan Markle’s new podcast, the wife of Prince Harry has managed to dethrone Joe Rogan as the most popular podcast host on Spotify.

Meghan Dethrones Rogan

Daily Mail reported that Meghan knocked Rogan out of the number one spot on Spotify’s most-listened-to chart on Thursday, two days after the premiere of her Archetype podcast, which she used to complain to tennis star Serena Williams about how she was treated as an “ambitious” woman. Millions of people around the world listened to the podcast, which hit number one in the U.S., Canada, Australia, Ireland, and the United Kingdom.

Rogan and Meghan have somewhat of a rocky history, as he branded her as a “little American hussy” on an episode of his podcast in February of 2021. All 113 of his episodes were mysteriously removed from Spotify afterward, and they only returned a week later when he apologized.

“There’s been a lot of s**t from the old episodes of the podcast that I wish I hadn’t said or had said differently,” he said in his apology.

Meghan Whines On Her Podcast

In the premiere of her podcast, Meghan whined about the “pain” that she’s suffered “behind closed doors.”

“I don’t ever remember personally feeling the negative connotation behind the word ambitious until I started dating my now husband,” Meghan said in her conversation with Williams. “And apparently ambition is a terrible, terrible thing. For a woman that is, according to some. So since I felt the negativity behind it, It’s really hard to unfeel it. I can’t unsee it either in the millions of girls and women who make themselves smaller, so much smaller on a regular basis.”

“The notion of ambition comes with many judgments and nuances – especially for women,” she added. “The misconception that if you’re an ambitious woman you have an agenda, you must be calculating or selfish or aggressive, or a climber. And that if you’re that fierce or strong, or brave then you somehow deserve whatever gets thrown at you – however disproportionate or unfair it may be, and even when it’s more than most could endure. Most men, most anyone.”

Meghan’s South Africa Story

Meghan later talked about an incident that she claimed occurred in September of 2019 during her royal tour of South Africa, where she claimed her baby son Archie’s nursery caught on fire.

“There was this moment where I’m standing on a tree stump and I’m giving this speech to women and girls, and we finish the engagement, we get in the car and they say there’s been a fire at the residence,” she recalled. “What? There’s been a fire in the baby’s room. We came back. And, of course, as a mother, you go, ‘Oh, my God, what?’ Everyone’s in tears, everyone’s shaken. And what do we have to do? Go out and do another official engagement. I said, ‘This doesn’t make any sense.'”

“I was like, ‘Can you just tell people what happened?’ And so much, I think, optically, the focus ends up being on how it looks instead of how it feels,” she later added.

Meghan and Harry stepped down as senior royals a few months later, and they have since moved across the world to a mansion in Southern California. Given the fact that Meghan is known for her “woke” leftwing views, it should come as no surprise that she used her podcast to whine and complain. It will certainly be interesting to see if she is able to stay at the top.
