There have been plenty of rumors about Mark Harmon’s health and his future on the hit CBS show NCIS. With Pauley Perrette announcing her departure from the show, fans have been concerned that Harmon might be leaving as well.
A recent interview given by Sean Murray, who plays Timothy McGee on the show, may shed some light on the chatter about Harmon’s health. Timothy McGee and Leroy Jethro Gibbs, played by Harmon, had a fight on the show. Murray told Entertainment Tonight that stuntmen weren’t used for the entire scene. Harmon and Murray did some of the fighting themselves.
“Mark and I put our heads together and said, ‘You know what, let’s just go for it. Let’s just start wrestling. Try and get some punches in the stomach, around the shoulders. Let’s just wrestle and grapple.’ That’s what we did and went for it and improvised a lot of it,” Murray said.
If Harmon is well enough to wrestle, perhaps that is an indicator that he is perfectly healthy. Murray’s comments certainly squash rumors that Harmon is too weak to continue appearing on the show. His character looked frail while imprisoned in Paraguay but perhaps he is just doing such a great job playing Gibbs that it has led to these rumors about his declining health.
Gibbs and McGee were able to escape from Paraguay in an action-packed scene in which a dating app had to be installed on the satellite phone to locate them.
NCIS just returned for its 15th season. The show can be seen on Tuesday nights on CBS at 8:00. Fans are hoping it will return for many more seasons.
