While many people are cheering the return of “Last Man Standing,” there is one person who won’t be returning to the show. Molly Ephraim will not be reprising her role as Mandy Baxter when the show re-emerges on Fox. This leaves an opening for a new actress to become a member of this important cast.
ABC nixed “Last Man Standing” in the spring likely because of its conservative undertones and actors. Except for Ephraim, the other actors are returning. This is an important role to fill as Tim Allen’s character, Mike Baxter, had fantastic banter with his daughter Mandy over politically incorrect ideas as you can see in the video below.
Here are some suggestions about who can reprise the role of Mandy:
Tomi Lahren could make a splash in the acting world in this role. The firebrand conservative commentator would fit right in with the cast. She also would prove to be recognizable to the audience and might draw in even more viewers when the show returns.
Vanessa Marano is no stranger to the small screen. Fans of ABC Family’s “Switched At Birth” are already familiar with the young actress. She also has been on “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Gilmore Girls.” Marano has experience in both dramatic and comedic roles, so she might prove to be an excellent choice as Tim Allen’s daughter.
Debby Ryan has been on the stage since she was only 7-years-old. The former Disney star is an alum of “The Suite Life On Deck.” She also starred in 16 Wishes, a Disney Channel movie that performed well with adult audiences as well as the younger generation.
Emma Kenney was introduced to a wide audience on “Shameless.” She also will likely be recognized by conservative TV viewers as she recently played Roseanne Barr’s granddaughter in the “Roseanne” reboot. As someone whose show was disrupted by ABC for political reasons, she has something in common with the “Last Man Standing” crew.
Ashley Rickards starred on “One Tree Hill” and MTV’s “Awkward.” She also showed her acting range by portraying a young, severely autistic woman in “Fly Away.”
Miranda Cosgrove has been on several televisions series since she was a young girl. She was a star on Nickelodeon’s “Drake and Josh” and then headlined her own show “iCarly.” She could easily fill the need for a new Mandy and make the audience fall in love with her.
Bridgit Mendler is known for her role on Disney’s “Waverly Place,” but she isn’t just an actress, she is an accomplished singer as well. Bridgit’s 2012 single “Ready or Not” was certified Gold and Platinum. She also does charity work to promote literacy and reading.
Taylor Spreitler’s show “Kevin Can Wait” was recently canceled which means she’s probably available and she just might be the perfect fit. She is skilled at a lot of different types of acting, including comedy heavily sprinkled with sarcasm.
Makenna James has been acting on television since she was 12-years-old. In 2016, she was cast in a role on “American Women” alongside Alicia Silverstone. She portrays the rebellious daughter of Silverstone which might make her a good choice to reprise the daughter role on Last Man Standing.”
Kylie Jenner would be an interesting choice for Mandy. Her sister Kim Kardashian West previously had a guest role on “Last Man Standing.” Younger audiences would certainly tune in to see this well-known star. But, since Kylie is on track to become a self-made billionaire by the age of 21, it’s unlikely she would accept.
