Kurt Russell And Goldie Hawn Reveal Why They Never Married
Despite being together for nearly four decades, however, Russell and Hawn have never actually made it official and walked down the aisle.
In an interview to promote their new Netflix movie Christmas Chronicles 2, the couple finally revealed the reason behind them never getting married.
“You’ve just got to want to be together. I don’t think there’s any way other than do it,” Hawn, 75, explained to People Magazine.
Russell chimed in to add, “For people like us, the marriage certificate wasn’t going to create anything that otherwise we wouldn’t have. I don’t know. 40 years isn’t enough to finally say, ‘Well I guess…'”
“Well, we’re not at 40 years yet,” said Hawn. “Our children got married. I mean, they didn’t not get married. Oliver’s very happily married and Wyatt’s very happily married. Katie got married once and that didn’t work, and she’s with this most amazing human and I don’t know if she’ll marry again. The point is that we all tried marriage and sometimes marriage doesn’t work.”

Kurt Russell And Goldie Hawn Met On The Set Of Swing Shift
In the end, this is completely fine with Russell and Hawn.
“It’s okay. It’s not about the marriage,” Hawn insisted. “It’s about the people and the relationship, and the will to stay together. And that’s a big one because if you want it, you can have it. You’ve got to give things up, but the joy and the excitement of being together and touching the toes of somebody at night is really a nice feeling.”
Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn met back in 1983, while filming the movie Swing Shift.
I have to thank @tcm for showing SWING SHIFT during Goldie Hawn day. It'll be hard to top this as my favorite discovery of 2020 if only because everyone in it is a freaking snack! #TCMParty pic.twitter.com/QiwUQXbXSI

When he first laid eyes on Hawn, Russell recalled being “impressed with Goldie visually… the images of her were alluring and attractive, so all those things were taking place.”
“But then you get to know somebody and you begin to find that, yeah, you do share things in common deeply. Hey, listen, it goes where it goes,” he added.
The two went on to star in multiple movies together.
Their most well-known is the 1987 comedy favorite Overboard. Then more recently the couple starred in Christmas Chronicles and their new Christmas Chronicles 2 on Netflix.
