Whoopi Goldberg is currently developing Sister Act 3, which is set to be released sometime next year. During Tuesday’s episode of “The View,” Joy Behar begged Goldberg to cast her and their fellow co-hosts on the ABC talk show as nuns in the movie.

Behar Wants In On Sister Act 3
“You still going to come and do Sister Act?” Goldberg asked “The View” guest Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday morning. He responded by saying that he will indeed “do a cameo” in the movie, which is set to be produced by Tyler Perry.
Unsurprisingly, Behar took this opportunity to make the situation all about herself by saying that “we could be nuns, also.” The “we” was a reference to her and her co-hosts Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, and Alyssa Farah Griffin, according to Entertainment Weekly.
“I’ve been pitching this,” Farah Griffin said in agreement, with Goldberg responding by saying, “Yeah, we could!”

Sister Act 3 In The Works
The original Sister Act was a smash hit when it came out back in 1992, and a sequel was released one year later. A third Sister Act movie has been in the works at Disney ever since 2020 after Goldberg spent decades pushing for it.
“I loved the idea of us making this happen, but the Hollywood system moves a little slower than I’d like [it] to,” Perry said while appearing on “The View” in September of last year. “We’ve got a good script, we’re off to a great start, we’re just trying to get everybody moving in the right direction to get it going.”
“They were sort of lukewarm for the longest time, they said nobody wanted to see it, and then Tyler went in and said, ‘I want to see it,'” Goldberg replied.
While appearing on “The Tonight Show” back in November, Goldberg talked to Fallon about the status of Sister Act 3.
“The script came in yesterday,” she said as the audience cheered, according to Deadline. “I really like it but it has a whole lot of adults to go through. So, if they don’t get in its way, it could actually be pretty good.”

Goldberg’s Plea To Maggie Smith
During an interview in the United Kingdom earlier this year, Goldberg issued a public plea to Maggie Smith, the 88 year-old two-time Oscar winner who played Mother Superior in the original Sister Act movies, begging her to agree to appear in the third film.
“You know, one of the things that I want to make sure I do while I’m here is… I want to let Maggie Smith know that I’m holding the part of Mother Superior for you [Maggie],” Goldberg said, according to Daily Mail. “Because I just can’t do it with anybody but you.”
“So if you need me to come over here [to England] and shoot and do whatever we have to do, we will do whatever you want us to do, but we don’t want to do it without you,” she added.
It’s unclear whether or not Goldberg’s plea paid off, as Smith has yet to issue a public response.

We’re all very excited for the next Sister Act movie, so we can only hope that Goldberg doesn’t ruin it by casting Behar as a nun in the film. Behar should stick to what she does best, which is blabbing incoherently about her ignorant liberal politics, and leave the acting to the professionals.
