Television icon John Schneider has released a new album heavy on faith and Southern Hospitality called Southern Ways.

Despite being a born Yankee, Schneider has always held an affinity for southern hospitality and southern culture, and that shines throughout this 11-song album. The tracks touch on faith, family, freedom, and everything that Southerners love and cherish.

“Southern music, southern cooking, southern hospitality. So I guess you could say I’ve always been about my Southern Ways! I hope you enjoy my best music yet!”

Johnny Cash’s Advice To Schneider

Schneider was close friends with Johnny Cash and he often went to the “Man in Black” for advice on his career. The lead single off this record, “Young Man” was inspired by Cash, who told him he would one day find the “perfect” song.

“My friend Johnny Cash told me that one day I would find the perfect song  and the perfect person to sing it to,” says Schneider. “28 years, I found that he was right. This one is dedicated to my smile.”

Schneider is a man of immense faith. He doesn’t Tweet much, but he often shares Biblical quotes or comments on the news of the day.

An Appreciation For Southern Ways

It is hard to find a single group of people more publicly maligned than those of us from the South. The media at best doesn’t understand us and worst has a seething hatred for those of us who think, act and speak a little differently than they do.

Schneider may be a Yankee, but his embracing of southern culture is really something to see. He could have easily played Bo Duke and been done with it.

Heck, he’s even had a solid film career and has essentially been on TV nonstop for 40 years.

Another thing I love about Schneider is his DIY attitude. He makes his own movies and music he wants and doesn’t wait for Hollywood to catch up. In his films, he often plays a character similar to an older Bo Duke.

Apart from his iconic role on “Dukes Of Hazzard,” Schneider starred for 10 years on TV series “Smallville” and is currently a lead on the hit show “The Haves And The Have Nots.”
