Viewers of David Letterman’s show are likely to remember his mom’s regular appearances. Her Midwestern charm was a sharp contrast to her son’s sarcastic wit, so the audience loved her. Dorothy Mengering was 95.
She was known simply as Dave’s Mom and she was known for making pies and her homestyle cooking. Dave sent her on special trips to report as a Late Night correspondent on events, such as the Olympics.

Dave’s mom died one day before her comedian son’s 70th birthday. So, there might not be a lot of celebrating for Dave today as they reflect on his mom’s long life. They could use our prayers.
