Country music star Faith Hill is calling on lawmakers in her home state of Mississippi to change the state’s flag, which currently features the Confederate emblem.
Faith Hill Wants Mississippi Flag Changed
Faith Hill, best known for her 90’s hit single “This Kiss” and longstanding marriage to country music icon Tim McGraw, put out a personal appeal to lawmakers in her home state on Thursday.
“To the Mississippi legislature: It’s time to change the state flag. I am a proud MS girl and I love my home state. When I think of Mississippi, I think of my mom and dad, the church I grew up in, high school football, and where I fell in love with music,” Hill tweeted.
“Now, it is time for the world to meet the Mississippi of today and not the Mississippi of 1894 (when the MS legislature voted on the current flag),” the 52 year-old singer added.
I understand many view the current flag as a symbol of heritage and Southern pride, but we have to realize that this flag is a direct symbol of terror for our black brothers and sisters.

Faith Urges Missippi Legislature To Vote On A New Flag
“I urge the Mississippi legislature to vote tomorrow Friday, June 26 on ONE NEW FLAG, one that represents ALL of the citizens of Mississippi,” Hill added in a third tweet.

Fox News reported that Mississippi is the last state to have the Confederate symbol on its flag. State lawmakers have drafted a resolution to have the flag changed, but it’s unclear if it will actually pass at this time.

Here Comes The Backlash
Hill has been hit with backlash ever since she shared this tweet yesterday, as many country music fans seem to feel that she is selling out.
I have a thought. I hate racism as much as the next guy. But trying to erase our country’s history doesn’t make it so. None of us are perfect. The best we can do is try and NOT repeat our mistakes. Erasing our history will insure we repeat our mistakes. I’m just saying.

Ok now you are cancelled also. I refuse to support anyone that buys into this cancel culture.

You just lost me. I’m so disappointed that you have caved too.

Oh my goodness!! Quit caving to the left!

Just another millionaire who wasn’t saying a thing about the flag 1 month ago but NOW it’s offensive- this is ridiculous!!!

There are a few people who side with Hill on the matter though.
Thank you for speaking up, Faith. There is so much about Southern culture and heritage to honor ans celebrate: food, music, literature, hospitality, and on and on. But the Confederacy isn’t one of them.

History should be learned and acts of terror not repeated. Having the symbol of black oppression as your state symbol is just diabolical. Good on you for speaking out

Faith Hill might regret speaking out about this and taking the side of the social justice-obsessed left since the response has been largely negative.
