The former “Beverly Hills, 90210” star Jason Priestley recently became the latest in a long line of Hollywood stars to leave Los Angeles when he moved to Nashville, Tennessee. Now, Priestley is opening up about why he and his wife decided to do this.

Check out a throwback photo of Priestley and some of his “90210” cast-mates below.

Priestley Moves To Nashville

Priestley, 54, revealed that he and his wife Naomi decided that they would leave Los Angeles for Nashville if both of their children got into school in the Tennessee city.

“My wife and I just said to each other, ‘If the kids get into the school, we’re going to Nashville!'” Priestley told E! News. “And lo and behold, they both got in, so we moved, and we love it.”

Priestley went on to talk about how much easier life is in Nashville.

“It’s just ease of operation,” he said. “It’s so much easier to navigate your life here. And it’s a cool, interesting place.”

“We get four seasons instead of one season,” he continued. “Because you have markers, and you know what time of year it is, it seems to make time go a little bit slower. There was something about the homogeneity of Los Angeles, where it was, ‘Is it March or is it October? I don’t know, I can’t really tell.’ So time just kind of evaporates. Whereas living here, with four very distinct seasons, you have to take advantage of what the season is offering.”

Priestley and his wife have been married for 19 years, and they are parents to Ava, 16, and Dashell, 14.

Other Celebrities Leave Los Angeles

Priestley is just one of many celebrities who has recently ditched Los Angeles. Another is Candace Cameron Bure, who moved to Austin, Texas with her family last year.

“We didn’t feel safe anymore,” Cameron Bure, 48, told Fox News last month. “And that was the biggest reason that we moved. Not everyone in Hollywood lives behind guard gates, and we weren’t behind gates.”

Cameron Bure went on to explain that she and her family had “quite a few problems over the years” with fans doing things like coming to their door and hiding on their property.

“It’s amazing what people feel they can do,” she said. “And wanting to be a part of your life in some way. Some of it is innocent, some of it wasn’t. But it’s quite unnerving when you’re just trying to be a person and live life, and you don’t know what’s around the corner.”

Scott Baio Leaves California

The former “Happy Days” star Scott Baio also fled California last year when he moved to Florida.

“I see people… When I drive with my kid, I gotta turn her head away. She’s 14 years old. I see people defecating on the sidewalk,” Baio lamented during a call with the Clay & Buck show. “You see people in parks shooting up. There’s people passed out everywhere. I mean it. It’s not the isolated. It’s all over the place. And I’m about ready to get out of the state. So, you know, just so you guys know, that it’s no joke out here.”

“I think, probably since Governor Newsom, it’s really gotten bad, and maybe a little before that. So, maybe four or five years ago,” he continued. “It’s just… It’s out of control, guys. Listen, I’ve been here for 45, almost 50 years. I’ve seen this place go from an absolute paradise into a cesspool…”

Regardless of a celebrity’s motivations for leaving California, it’s clear that the trend is to live elsewhere these days. Here’s hoping that Priestley and his family continue to enjoy their new lives in Nashville!
